Getting Started
-
A discovery call is a free 15-minute phone consultation offered by our clinic to help you determine if physical therapy is right for you—and if we’re the right fit to help. During this call, you'll speak directly with one of our Doctors of Physical Therapy, share your concerns, ask questions, and get clear next steps. It’s a no-pressure way to learn more about our approach and how we can support your goals. Ideal for anyone curious about starting PT or unsure where to begin.
-
If you’re ready to jump right into physical therapy, select “50-minute physical therapy appointment” on the booking page! You can expect a thorough evaluation and some treatment at your first appointment.
-
No, a referral is not required. Colorado has direct access to physical therapy services and a referral is not required. Additionally, since Ascend is an out-of-pocket clinic, insurance does not typically require a referral for any potential reimbursement.
-
We recommend that patients wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement and access to the area being treated. Athletic wear like t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers with proper traction are ideal to properly perform exercises and movement activities. Avoid restrictive clothing like jeans or dress shoes as this could make treatment difficult.
Common Treatment Questions
-
A standard session is 50 minutes. In special circumstances, we offer 25-minute dry needling only appointments.
-
This depends on your specific condition, severity of symptoms, and treatment goals as determined by your physical therapist. Most clients can expect once per week sessions to start with frequency potentially decreasing over time. Your therapist will create a personalized treatment plan during your initial evaluation that outlines the recommended schedule and duration of care.
-
Yes, our treatment programs are designed to ensure that you will see the same PT. This builds a stronger therapist-client relationship for a deeper understanding of your specific needs, injury history, and progress. In rare circumstances, we will have patients switch therapists for a fresh set of eyes if things are not progressing how we expect.
-
Email is the best way to reach your individual PT with any questions or concerns. You can also call the office directly if you need immediate support. You can see how to contact the Ascend team here.
-
Most patients should begin to notice some improvement in pain levels or mobility within 2-4 weeks of consistent treatment. This timeline can vary based on your specific conditions, severity of injury, and other factors. Remember that consistent attendance and following through with the prescribed at-home exercises plays a crucial role in how quickly you'll see results.
-
Yes, we provide all patients with individualized home exercise programs to support their on-going recovery. These plans can focus on areas like strength, balance, mobility, and pain management.
-
A DPT stands for Doctor of Physical Therapy, which is the doctoral-level degree that all licensed physical therapists must earn to practice in the United States. Physical therapists with a DPT have an advanced education and clinical expertise to diagnose movement problems, develop treatment plans, and provide evidence-based care for a wide range of conditions. You can learn more about the Ascend team and their education here.
-
Occupational therapy concentrates on helping you perform daily living activities such as dressing or cooking. This is accomplished through adapting techniques to improve your functional independence. Physical therapy focuses primarily on improving mobility, strength, balance, and reducing pain. PT utilizes exercises and manual techniques to help you move better and return to physical activities.

Billing & Payment
-
Ascend is an out-of-network clinic. This means that we do not accept any insurance, but in many cases, clients do have out-of-network benefits through their insurance plan. After a session, or the completion of your plan of care, a superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company. If you have out of network benefits, it's likely you will be reimbursed 50-80% the cost of treatment. Learn more on the Philosophy page.
-
Think of a superbill like a receipt. A superbill is a document that details important components of your treatment. After a session is complete, a superbill can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company. Many patients who have out of network benefits do receive reimbursement from their insurance company after a superbill is submitted.
-
We ask for a 24-hour notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Late cancellations and no shows will incur a fee.

Accepted forms of payment include HSA/FSA, credit card, debit card, cash, and check.
